Drill a 15/16–inch hole close to the bottom of the barrel. Drill as perpendicular to the surface as you can.

Screw a 3/4-inch male insert adapter into the hole, and then back out again, to establish threads.

Wrap teflon tape around the threads on the outlet and apply Plumber’s Goop over the tape.

Screw the outlet back into the hole, being careful to keep it perpendicular to the side of the barrel. Use a wrench if necessary.

Apply a ring of Plumber’s Goop around the outlet where it meets the barrel to insure a waterproof seal. Crawl into the barrel and apply goop around the base of the outlet.

Choose the best side for the overflow. Drill a 15/16-inch hole near the top of the barrel. Repeat the steps for installing the outlet.
